Are you interested in joining the Assessment Review Board?

The Calgary Assessment Review Board (ARB) recruits new members annually. The next recruitment will take place in the fall of 2019 to select candidates for membership for the one year term from January to December 2020.

Candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply:

  • Real estate
  • Property management
  • Property development
  • Property appraisal
  • Assessment
  • Law

In addition, candidates should have strong analytical skills, the ability to be fair and open-minded, and a capacity to work collaboratively with board leadership and other members. Previous experience on a quasi-judicial board or administrative tribunal is considered an asset.

Members of the Calgary ARB must be 18 years of age or older and must be current residents of the city of Calgary. Pursuant to the Matters Relating to Assessment Complaints Regulation 201/2017 tax agents, assessors, and employees of the City of Calgary are not eligible to be members of the Calgary ARB.

Former tax agents, assessors and employees of the City of Calgary may not sit as members of the Calgary ARB until at least one year after their position as a tax agent, assessor or employee of the City of Calgary has ended.
